At the turn of the 20th century, a young Irish girl Kathleen, emigrates to Australia and is indoctrinated into the Catholic Church by her mentor, Father Jim Patterson.

Kathleen’s brother, a political activist trying to bring down the Australian Government, suspects an affair between Kathleen and Father Patterson, and blackmails Patterson into becoming involved in an assassination attempt.

Kathleen is then kidnapped by an Irish political faction and, in front of Father Patterson, is forced into Court proceedings against his own Bishop.

Father Patterson has a violent confrontation with Kathleen’s brother, leading to the revelation of a tragic secret.
